Slovenian Steel Group bought German Steel Center SMG Edelstahl
After the successfully concluded investments in the production capacities the group SIJ – Slovenska industrija jekla continues investing in the development of EU and world markets according to its plans.
Its main focus is purchasing steel centres and processing-sales centres, which are extremely significant for the development of steel industry, the industry's specialisation and competition capabilities. These centres enable the appropriate offer and fast supply of steels in the required dimensions and qualities, as well as by providing applicable mechanical and heat processing.
Last year, Metal Ravne, a subsidiary company of the group SIJ, became the 100 percent owner of Ravne Steel Centre. Recently, the Slovenian steel makers also bought the 85 percent share in Niro Wenden Steel Centre. From the beginning of July SIJ boosts its German market breakthrough even further by buying majority shareholding amounting to 60 % of the German Steel Centre SMG Edelstahl, which has its seat in Salach near Stuttgart. The company mechanically processes steel using state of the art technologies. SMG Edelstahl is specialised for processing and sale of thick stainless steel sheets and in cooperation with Steel Centre Niro Wenden the companies shall provide end customers with improved support and faster supply. This means Acroni, a subsidiary company of the SIJ group with its seat in Jesenice, will gain efficient support for its endeavours to keep and boost its market share on the German and surrounding Benelux markets.
